ABA - Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Applied Behavior Analysis?

Applied Behavior Analysis (often referred to as ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding behavior that uses the principles of behavior and other evidence based procedures to provide positive reinforcement for socially appropriate behaviors. During direct ABA therapy sessions, behaviors and skill deficits are targeted and broken down into the simplest steps and taught directly using positive reinforcement strategies. Once the skill is mastered, it should generalize into all environments and become part of the learner’s repertoire.

  • What makes Beverly Hills Behavior Analyst Concierge unique from the majority of ABA companies?

Typical ABA companies first assign a BCBA to assess your child in their natural environment(s). Then the BCBA will design a course of intervention and finally, an ABA paraprofessional is assigned to your case and implements the intervention. At Beverly Hills Behavior Analyst Concierge, our BCBA: assesses your child in their natural environment, designs the course of intervention, and implements the intervention by providing direct services to the client. We feel that it is critical that the BCBA is hands-on during the entire process from assessment to intervention, monitoring progress consistently, to ensure continuity in the intervention which produces long-term, meaningful behavior change.

  • What age range do you work with?

Individuals of different ages and skill levels can use the principles and strategies of ABA to accomplish and learn amazing things! We work with children as young as 18 months, teenagers and adults, including many elderly clients.

  • Do you accept insurance?

We are a private-pay practice and we do not contract with any insurance providers. Upon your request (and once we have received your payment for that month’s services), we will provide you with a super bill that you can submit it to your insurance for reimbursement, which will vary depending on your individual plan and out-of-network benefits. Once you’ve received your super bill, you may submit it to your insurance provider along with your individual insurance claim form, so that your provider can process your claim. Most insurance companies do require a formal diagnosis for coverage. We do not administer the processing of insurance claims nor do we accept insurance reimbursements as payment for services rendered.

  • How long is a typical session?

A typical session lasts between 1-3 hours depending on the individual needs of you, your child and their goals. Greater success is observed when initially implementing an in-home intensive model for a maximum of 7 consistent days and then, reducing hours as your child exhibits progress.

  • How many hours of ABA per week will my child need?

The exact number of hours per week depends on you and your child’s individual needs and your family’s priorities for addressing concerning behavior(s). Following your child’s assessment, we will discuss the recommended hours per week for your child.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Any cancellation within a 24-hr period is subject to the entire session fee.

  • Can Parents Participate in ABA Therapy?

Yes, parents are a fundamental part of ABA treatment! Observing and participating in your child’s therapy sessions is the most effective way to learn more about your child’s development and progress. Your participation is also critical for generalization to other environments. You will be able to integrate what you learn during your child’s intervention sessions into your home life, your child’s school life, into the community and beyond.

  • What Covid Safety Measures or protocols do you have in place?

Our client’s health & safety is one of our top priorities. Our Board Certified Behavior Analyst is tested weekly for Covid and will wear a mask (upon request) during your in-person sessions. We ask that all clients inform of us immediately if anyone in your home has been exposed to or has tested positive for COVID, as those in-person sessions will need to be rescheduled or moved to a telehealth platform.
