PRECISION TEACHING

Precision Teaching is a system of teaching instruction that is evidence-based and uses exact measurements and data to guide the instruction and curricula choices. The philosophy behind Precision Teaching is, “The Learner Knows Best.” Precision Teaching involves practice, monitoring and curricular decision making based on the learner’s data. The learner’s data guides if, when, and how the curricula may be improved or changed based on data to promote the learner’s success.

Precision Teaching allows the Board Certified Behavior Analyst to isolate deficits and teach them using a discrete precise technique while monitoring the learner’s skill acquisition rate. This allows for a more accurate, rapid skill acquisition rate.

Precision Teaching is important because it involves short instruction tasks to build skills by regularly rehearsing them and collecting data to guide programming. Precision Teaching allows the Board Certified Behavior Analyst to monitor and track the learner’s progress very carefully as well as make necessary changes in the curricula to ensure the learner is mastering the skill as quickly as possible.
